I have been feeling uptight about not working on my second suspense novel lately. We all go through those phases where our projects get shelved due to other things taking up our time.
Recently I even had to skip my turn at subbing to my critique group (and I hate missing my turn).
Today, as I sat at my keyboard working on lyrics to the final original song for my murder/mystery, I realized that I was still writing. I was just writing words to a song instead of words in a chapter. Creating is creating – writing is writing
What are you writing today?
Totally agree with you, my friend. You just have to agree to let go of your suspense novel TEMPORARILY. I can’t imagine you NOT writing. You write all the time. (But I realize you want to get El and Mel into and out of their sticky situations, and I want to read about it, too!)

Yes, I need to put El and Mel to rest, so to speak. It’s time to move on to my next batch of characters.
But…my theatrical performances are upcoming so the playscripts and the songs had to take priority, I guess.

Lately I’m not writing, I’m editing. Hate editing, but if I let myself do any real writing, then the editing never gets done. Tried alternating days, but it just didn’t work for me, so I’m slogging on through the grunt work before moving on to the next project…though I did allow myself an hour to do research into my next hero’s tattoos LOL!

Yep – then there’s editing LOL. Sometimes I like it – if I’ve struggled with a section and then suddenly figured out how to improve it. But that’s more like re-writing, isn’t it?
Isn’t it funny how we can find the craziest things to research to break the monotony? LOL
